As part of their Science learning journey, Year 7C students participated in a Mini Science Fair, where they worked in groups to design and conduct their own investigations using simple household materials. The project gave them hands-on experience in applying the scientific method, from planning and identifying variables to collecting data and presenting their findings in a report. Their investigations explored diverse questions, such as electrical conductivity, the effect of water temperature on dissolving salt, the impact of sugar on soap bubble lifespan, and protective packaging designs to prevent eggs from breaking when dropped. ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ฉ๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฌ' ๐๐๐ฒ What begins as a simple desire to trade stickers with friends can, with a little teacher magic, blossom into a school-wide celebration of commerce and creativity. This was the charming genesis of our Young Entrepreneurs' Day, an idea sparked by a group of enterprising Primary students who saw value in their collections. Eager to nurture this innate business instinct, our Primary Homeroom and Secondary Business teachers joined forces, transforming a casual trade into a structured, hands-on learning experience for the whole school. The planning process itself became a lesson in economics, as students refined their pitches, calculated costs, and discussed marketing strategies, all while preparing for the main event. On the day itself, the Multi-Purpose Hall was a vibrant atmosphere of a local flea market. Immediately after morning break, our aspiring young business experts descended upon their stalls, meticulously arranging their wares and hoisting eye-catching, hand-painted signs to lure in customers. As classes filed in to browse, the hall came alive with the spirited haggling of buyers and the persuasive pitches of sellers, creating a delightful micro-economy. From the irresistible snacks and thirst-quenching drinks to the glittering displays of collectable football and Pokemon cards, soft toys, colourful stickers, key chains, and colouring pads, there was a treasure for every visitor. Our second day in Shanghai started with overcast skies that threatened rain, but our young travellers' excitement for Disneyland remained utterly undampened, turning the bleak grey clouds into a mere backdrop for a day of pure magic. Our group of students plunged headfirst into the thrills of the heart-pounding rides roaring with laughter. Then they darted into the gift shops, wide-eyed, as they got their hands on Mickey-shaped treats and plush souvenirs. The real enchantment, however, unfolded in character meet-and-greets, where they snapped selfies with their favourite Disney characters; their childhood dreams coming to life. As dusk settled and the sky darkened, the iconic castle transformed into a canvas of light, piercing the grey clouds in a kaleidoscope of colour. Our Year 7โ10 students enjoyed a hands-on learning journey at Chocolate Atelier, discovering the creativity and craftsmanship behind handcrafted chocolates. From learning about the chocolate-making process to trying their hand at chocolate tempering and creating their own treats, our students experienced the skills and precision behind every beautifully crafted piece. For our Primary students in Years 5 and 6, the day began with an empowering rotation through hands-on activity stations. In the 'Password Power Lab,' they discovered the art of crafting unbreakable passphrases, learning that a simple petโs name is no match for a robust string of characters. Moving to the 'Fake or Real? Media Smart Challenge,' these young detectives sharpened their eyes, scrutinizing headlines and images to separate fact from fiction, while the 'Think Before You Share' station fostered deep discussions on digital empathy and the lasting impact of our online footprints. Watching these students collaborate and solve puzzles within their year groups shows their growing awareness that navigating the internet requires just as much savvy as using it for games or research. As the morning progressed, the energy and complexity escalated for our Secondary students in Years 7 through 10, who tackled the more advanced challenges waiting for them. Rotating within their groups, they stepped into the shoes of cybersecurity experts at the 'Emoji Code Encryption' station, where they used symbols to encode and decode messages, understanding the fundamentals of how data is protected. However, the highlight of their journey was undoubtedly the 'Deepfake Detectives' station, a crucial exercise in an age where seeing is no longer believing. Here, students analysed clips with a forensic eye, learning to spot subtle glitches and inconsistencies that betray AI-manipulated content. Our group of Secondary students arrived at Shanghai airport early Wednesday morning. They had a long journey from Johor to Kuala Lumpur International Airport, then about a five hour flight to Shanghai. After checking into the hotel, it was an interesting visit to Chenhuang Temple (City God Temple) which was built in 1403 during the Ming Dynasty. The students also strolled around the area admiring the traditional southern-style architecture.
