Our Year 6 students became young scientists as they explored the exciting world of chemical reactions through the famous ‘Elephant Toothpaste’ experiment. Earlier in the year, the Science department conducted a demonstration of the experiment to Primary learners. This time, the Year 6s got to experiment it themselves! Students worked in groups to mix different substances and then they observed what happened when a chemical reaction took place. The highlight of the session was watching colourful foam rapidly burst out of the containers, creating a giant toothpaste effect that amazed everyone. Beyond the fun and excitement, students learned how chemical reactions can produce new substances and release energy. They compared the results of different mixtures, discussed their observations, and practised making scientific predictions. It was wonderful to see so much curiosity, teamwork, and enthusiasm as students investigated science through hands-on learning. Xi En proudly represented Johor and competed against the nation’s top swimmers at the MSSM Aquatic Championships 2026. The event was held at the Pusat Akuatik Tuanku Zara, Ipoh, Perak. She delivered an outstanding performance, winning a total of nine medals and breaking one National Record! Our Early Years children had a wonderful time creating their own undersea craft using sponges that were precut into sea creature shapes. They explored different textures, colours, and patterns and used the sponges to create different designs to complete the scene. From preparing ingredients to creating their very own treats, students demonstrated creativity, teamwork, and confidence while learning new skills. Alice: A Wonderland Musical marks a milestone for Invictus International School Horizon Hills, representing the culmination of a journey that began with June 2025 auditions and intensive rehearsals since September. This production served as a masterclass in creative growth, where students mastered the technical precision of stagecraft and utilised improvisation to bring Lewis Carroll’s nonsensical world to life through student-led "happy accidents." We started our learning journey in the Library, exploring a range of non-fiction books and discovered how these books provide us with facts and information about different topics. We then looked at the features of information texts and completed a fun cut-and-paste activity to identify headings, subheadings, photographs, captions, labels, and fact boxes. This hands-on activity helped us recognise how information is organised and presented to readers. Then, we chose a non-fiction book and created three questions based on what we wanted to find out. Using laptops, we enjoyed being researchers and recorded our findings. Then in Science, we have been learning about rocks. We read the story ‘Scribble Stones’ by Diane Alber, about kindness and friendship. We then decorated our own rocks, adding colourful designs, characters, and patterns. Our Year 3 to Year 6 Primary students gathered in the Training Room for an exciting Learning Journey information session, where they received key details about their upcoming trip. During the session, they learned about the activities they would take part in, the groups they would be assigned to, and the essential items to bring on the day. Our happy learners were visibly excited, as they had been eagerly waiting for this trip to celebrate the end of their final examinations for the year. We were delighted to welcome a delegation of about 20 teachers, principals, and directors from the Gangwon State Office of Education, Board of Education in Chuncheon, South Korea. Their visit to our school was driven by a keen interest in exploring diverse international school environments. Reflecting the rich multicultural tapestry of our community, approximately 20% of Invictus students are Korean, 40% are Malaysian, and the remaining 40% represent about 35 other nationalities including Singapore, China, India, South Africa, Russia, Australia and New Zealand, offering our guests a meaningful glimpse into an inclusive, globally minded setting. Early Years 1 Dolphin class started learning and exploring sea animals and life under the sea. The children practised their hand-eye coordination by catching fish using fishing ropes. Year 4 Joy had a joyful Science lesson exploring the causes of earthquakes. They were given puzzle pieces which acted as tectonic plates and their mission for the lesson was to collaborate in groups, using toothpicks and marshmallows to make their own earthquake-proof structures. Ms Amylia then placed their super structures in trays, putting them to the test by shaking them vigorously, mimicking a powerful earthquake high on the Richter scale. Our talented scholar, Kiyo, recently participated in the International Music event in Dubai. This event, organised by the Professors Conservatoire in the United Kingdom attracted global participants. Kiyo was the one and only representative from Malaysia and one of the youngest participants. In the Ensemble performances, Kiyo used an amazing total of seven instruments, and she has also found new fun in music composition.
