Early Years

At Invictus Horizon Hills Early Years, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, a UK standard of education that sets high expectations for learning, development, and care for children from 3 to 5 years old. Our play-based, guided learning approach builds confidence, independence, and curiosity through hands-on experiences that make learning fun and meaningful.

As children move into the reception year (EY2), a greater emphasis is placed on learning skills that will support and prepare children for the learning expectations in year 1.

The EYFS curriculum is designed around seven key areas of learning and development, which together provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning:

  • Communication and Language – developing speaking, listening, and understanding skills.
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development – building relationships, resilience, and self-confidence.
  • Physical Development – strengthening gross and fine motor skills to support healthy growth.
  • Literacy – fostering early reading and writing skills.
  • Mathematics – exploring numbers, patterns, shapes, and problem-solving.
  • Understanding the World – discovering people, cultures, communities, and the natural world.
  • Expressive Arts and Design – encouraging creativity, imagination, and artistic expression.

We also value the vital role of parents as partners in their child’s learning journey. By working closely together, we create a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment where every child feels supported, celebrated, and inspired to reach their full potential.
